March/April 2020

The executive staff of Nomadic Wellness is deploying two wellness trips in the first half of 2020.  The first trip will occur March 23, 2020 through March 29, 2020. We will be returning to Honduras to accomplish the annual replacement of filters in the water purification systems installed in 2019 and to provide 6 new water purification devices at new locations.  This sustainable program was initiated to abate or cure chronic dysentery and intestinal issues common to citizens in Santa Barbara, Honduras.

The first water filtration system was sourced from Chrystal Quest of Kennesaw, Georgia.  In 2019 this system was installed in an orphanage where the children suffered stunted growth and other disorders due to water-borne parasites ingested from contaminated water.  We will also be conducting a needs assessment in the local hospital and clinics. Director, Chelsey Moore will lead this wellness expedition, taking up to 7 volunteers.

The second trip will be from March 29, 2020 to April 4, 2020 to Chiapas, Mexico to do a needs assessment for a local mountain clinic and simultaneously prepare for an upcoming visit from iSight Missions of San Diego, CA.  On that mission, iSight Missions doctors will remove cataracts and cure blindness for indigenous peoples of this region, holding the oldest Indian tribes on the planet.  Diet is the cause of early onset of cataracts in this region, with some blindness occurring by age twenty.  Nomadic Wellness will set up a sustainable wellness program in this mountainous region of Southernmost Mexico.
